Potlatch Design Century: The Potlatch printing papers division (since sold to Sappi) turned to us for a piece to promote one of its premium grades in 1999. Noting that many magazines were surveying “the best of the century,” but that none was likely to focus on design, we suggested that we produce a four volume boxed set called American Design Century. Individual books focused on 20th century typography, posters, annual reports and design icons, with an interview with a leading expert on the subject.
